Tall case brass dial clock, ca. 1820.

Maple tall-case clock. The hood has an ogee molded broken-scroll pediment terminating in carved rosettes, a central urn-and-spire finial flanked by two identical finials on block plinths, a molded arch above the door, turned colonettes at the front corners, and a glazed door with an astragal top. Waist with cove molding at the top and a case door with an astragal top. Base with molding at the top and bottom, supported on ogee bracket feet with central drop. Engraved brass dial with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, ornament in the spandrels and lunette, and the inscription "L & A Hutchins Concord" in the lunette. Inside the chapter ring is an engraved seconds dial. Eight day movement.

Levi Hutchins, with his brother Abel, was an apprentice to Simon Willard in Grafton, Mass. In 1786 the brothers moved to Concord, NH and formed a partnership.
